Time Is Limited - Do Not Learn Every New Thing
Time is limited. Don’t waste it in learning, trying, and switching to every new fancy tool out there.
Whether it’s note-taking, task management, programming languages, diagramming, code editors, or backend/frontend frameworks, most tools will get the job done. There’s a scale threshold after which the decision matters, but in most cases, especially at the individual level, almost any option will work.
When I hear about a new tool, I spend about 10 minutes understanding its edge, power, or differentiator, just enough to know what’s out there in the market. But I rarely see a paradigm shift, so I rarely switch. For example, I’ve been using the same note-taking app and diagramming tools for the last five years. I dive into the details only as much as I need to get the job done.
Look at the bigger picture:
- Spend time learning and strengthening your engineering foundations.
- Spend time on transferable skills.
- Spend time understanding the business side.
- Spend time building tools that serve your community.
Specializing is good, but you won’t be able to specialize in everything.
الوقت ديق يا شباب بلاش تهلكوه في تعلم وتجربة كل جديد تسمعوا عنه. في حاجات كتير اهم تستثمر فيها وقتك بالذات وسط اللي احنا عايشينه
